Three Fighters Earn UFC Contracts on ‘Dana White’s Contender Series,’ Bo Nickal Walks Away Without Contract
Three more fighters were offered UFC contracts on this week’s episode of “Dana White’s Contender Series.”
Jamal Pogues, Erik Silva, and Clayton Carpenter were all given the opportunity to become a UFC fighter after their wins Tuesday at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Heavyweight Pogues went three rounds against Paulo Renato Jr., using his boxing skills to walk away with a decision win.
Silva had one of the quicker victories of the night, stopping Anvar Boynazarov in the first round with ground and pound shots.
Carpenter had to make a comeback in his bout, battling past a rough first round to earn a decision victory against Edgar Chairez.
Bo Nickal, a collegiate wrestler turned MMA fighter, notably wasn’t offered a UFC contract after his quick first-round submission over Zack Borrego. However, UFC President Dana White offered Nickal another fight later in this year’s “Contender Series” season to earn more experience.

Undefeated Waldo Cortes-Acosta To Make UFC Debut Against Jared Vanderaa on October 29th
Undefeated heavyweight Waldo Cortes-Acosta already has his first UFC fight booked.
Cortes-Acosta is scheduled to face Jared Vanderaa at UFC’s October 29th event, as announced by the promotion on Tuesday night. The fight is joining a card that is expected to take place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Cortes-Acosta earned a UFC contract just earlier this month, using punches to score a first-round finish victory over Danilo Suzart on “Dana White’s Contender Series.”
The fight was Cortes-Acosta’s seventh win as a pro. Previous appearances include stoppage wins in LFA and a decision victory in Bellator.
Vanderaa is currently amid a long losing streak. He took his fourth consecutive defeat in early July, getting finished in the first round of a bout against Chase Sherman.
