Welcome to the Thursday edition of the Knockdown Daily. The past 24 hours have provided updates on Bethe Correia, a new signing for KSW, and three announced fights for a DEEP Impact card. Also, a feature piece was revealed about the risks of training amid COVID-19.
Outside of the MMA world, the global news cycle on Wednesday was dominated by a riot in Washington, D.C., USA, where pro-Trump extremists broke into Capitol Hill in an attempt to disrupt the electoral count confirmation of the 2020 U.S. Election. Congress resumed after hours of lockdown and eventually confirmed the election results on early Thursday morning.

Bethe Correia Has Successful Surgery, Looks Forward To Retirement Fight
Bethe Correia has undergone a successful appendix removal, per a report from Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting. The emergency surgery forced Correia out of a January 16th fight against Wu Yanan.
The fight on January 16th was meant to be Corriea’s last as a pro. While the booking was scrapped, a statement from Correia mentioned that she looks forward to eventually having her retirement fight.
Uros Jurisic Joins KSW’s Welterweight Roster
Undefeated welterweight Uros Jurisic has signed with Polish MMA promotion KSW. Jurisic joins the promotion after capturing the Titan FC Welterweight Championship in 2018 and earning a win in Bellator last year.
Three Fights Announced For DEEP 100 Impact Card
DEEP Impact has announced three more fights for their 20th-anniversary show, which is scheduled to happen on February 21st at the TDC Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
The biggest of the three fights announced is between DEEP Featherweight Champion Juntaro Ushiku and Daiki Nakamura. Here are the three new bouts.
Bout 1: Juntaro Ushiku (18-7-1) vs. Daisuke Nakamura (29-19-1) (Featherweight)
Bout 2: DJ Taiki (20-13-6) vs. Kouya Kanda (6-3) (Featherweight)
Bout 3: Rikiya (2-3) vs. Sho Sekihara (3-2) (Bantamweight)

Contact training continues to put MMA fighters at risk of COVID-19
MMA fighters were put at risk of COVID-19 and infected by the virus throughout 2020. In an attempt to interpret how the sport has had troubles with the virus, I focused specifically on the risks involved with training in MMA.
Assessing the risk and looking at solutions, I spoke to Dr. Jason Kindrachuk. Also, to look at why training with physical contact is so important, I spoke to people who train in the sport.
