Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the Knockdown Daily. Here are the top headlines from the past 24 hours.
What’s New
A video has surfaced which shows UFC President Dana White slapping his wife in the face while at a nightclub on New Year’s Eve.
The video showed White engaging in a physical confrontation with his wife after arguing on the balcony inside the club venue. White grabbed the wrist of his wife, with her slapping him right after. He responded by swinging at her with two slaps to the head.
White, 53, claimed ownership for the moment, stating to TMZ that “There’s never, ever an excuse for [a] guy to put his hands on a woman.”
UFC, along with its parent company Endeavor, has yet to issue a statement on the matter.
Welterweight striker Jack Della Maddalena will put his flawless UFC record on the line next month, facing Randy Brown at UFC 284. Mike Heck of MMA Fighting reported the matchup first.
Della Maddalena has strung together a trio of first-round finishes since making his UFC debut early last year.
Brown, a UFC vet of seven years, is entering the bout on a four-fight winning streak — the longest he has attained since joining the promotion.
Veteran Raphael Assuncao will take on Kyler Phillips at the promotion’s March 11th card, per an announcement from Phillip’s management team.
Assuncao snapped a four-fight skid in his last appearance, beating Victor Henry on scorecards in October 2022.
Phillips also returned to the win column in his last fight, submitting Marcelo Rojo. He will be appearing for the first time in over a year when he makes his upcoming appearance.
13-fight UFC vet Kendall Grove will return to MMA later this month, taking on Michal Materla at KSW 78. The bout will be his first MMA appearance since 2019.
