Vadim Nemkov vs. Corey Anderson Set For Bellator Light Heavyweight GP Final
Corey Anderson and Vadim Nemkov won their respective bouts in Bellator’s Light Heavyweight Grand Prix on Saturday night, setting them up as the final bout in the eight-man tournament.
Their fights took place on Bellator 268 at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.
Light Heavyweight Champion Vadim Nemkov Submits Tournament Alternate Julius Anglickas
Vadim Nemkov made it to the grand finals of the Bellator’s 205-pound grand prix on Saturday, defeating tournament alternate Julius Anglickas in the main event. The Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion put an end to his highly dominant performance in the fourth round, submitting Anglickas with a kimura.
Nemkov controlled Anglickas throughout the fight using ground and pound striking and submission attempts.
Nemkov did damage in the second round, getting Anglickas down and unloading with ground and pound for numerous minutes. Damage from these shots showed clearly on Anglickas, who had bruising and was bleeding in the later rounds. Nemkov looked for submissions in the third and fourth rounds, eventually closing the show with the kimura.
Anglickas got his best shot in early, knocking Nemkov down with a right cross punch in the opening round. Nemkov recovered from this moment well, scoring a takedown and landing shots on the ground later in the frame.
Anglickas was put in the tournament after former UFC title challenger Anthony Johnson had to withdraw from the bracket. He joined the tournament after scoring three wins in Bellator from 2019 to 2021.
Nemkov has now defended his belt twice since earning it off Ryan Bader last year. His first title fight was in the first round of the bracket, where he defeated Phil Davis in April.
Corey Anderson Stops Former Light Heavyweight Champ Ryan Bader In First Minute, Secures GP Final Spot
Corey Anderson had a quick win in the co-main event, stopping former 205-pound champ Ryan Bader within a minute to advance into the Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix Finals.
Anderson dropped Bader early in the first round with an overhand right. He was quick to pounce with more shots on the ground, landing punches from half guard and the back that forced the referee to eventually end the bout.
Anderson had a stoppage win in the first round of the tournament as well, defeating Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov earlier this year. The fight on Saturday was Anderson’s third win since making the move from UFC to Bellator.
Bader’s tournament run was an attempt to regain the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship. He lost his belt in 2020, getting stopped by current champ Vadim Nemkov.
Bader kicked off his tournament run earlier this year with a decision victory over Lyoto Machida.

Norma Dumont Takes Comfortable Decision Win Over Short-Notice Opponent Aspen Ladd In UFC Main Event
Norma Dumont cruised to a unanimous decision win over short-notice opponent Aspen Ladd on Saturday night, taking a lead early and riding that momentum to a scorecard victory. The win for Dumont headlined a UFC “Fight Night” card that took place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Ladd didn’t have an answer for Dumont’s striking in the early rounds of the fight. Dumont likely took the first three rounds due to her ability to resist takedowns and control Ladd on the feet.
Ladd’s corner explicitly told her that they thought she was down three-rounds-to-none heading into the fourth, stressing that she needed to pick up the pace.
Ladd showed urgency in the latter-half of the fight, even taking a round on scorecards. However, the work that she put together wasn’t enough to take the win away from Dumont.
Ladd stepped in and took the main event bout just last week, replacing prior opponent Holly Holm. Ladd was moving up a weight division, leaving the bantamweight class just weeks after she missed the 136-pound limit for a bout earlier in the month.
Ladd had been out of the cage since 2019, with numerous cancelled bouts keeping her sidelined for the past two years.
The win on Saturday was Dumont’s first in a UFC main event bout. She scored her first UFC featherweight win earlier this year, defeating former title challenger Felicia Spencer.
Ladd was making the main event walk for the second time. Her previous UFC main event appearance was also a loss, getting stopped in just 16 seconds by Germaine de Randamie in 2019.
Saturday’s main event was only UFC’s third women’s featherweight bout of the year thus far.
Four Fighters Walk Away With UFC ‘Performance of the Night’ Bonuses
Four UFC fighters walked away with an extra $50,000 Saturday, as their respective wins earned them a “Performance of the Night” award.
Jim Miller, Nate Landwehr, Bruno Silva and Danaa Batgerel were all given awards following UFC’s “Fight Night” card this weekend.
Miller scored a stoppage in his fight, finishing promotional newcomer Erick Gonzalez early in the second round with a left hook. The win was Miller’s 38th UFC appearance, making him the fighter with most bouts in the promotion’s history.
Landwehr played upset in the opening fight of the main card, securing an anaconda choke submission win against Ludovit Klein.
Silva’s win was the final prelim of the night, where he used a surge of energy in the third round to make a comeback and stop Andrew Sanchez with strikes.
Danaa’s win early in the show saw him spoil the UFC return for Brandon Davis, finishing him in the second round with punches.
