Ketlen Vieira Takes Close Decision Win Over Former Champ Miesha Tate
Ketlen Vieira picked up a big win in Saturday night’s UFC main event, prevailing in a striking battle over former champ Miesha Tate for a unanimous decision victory.
The fight headlined a UFC “Fight Night” card that took place at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Tate had a higher output of strikes than Vieira at times in their five-round bout, although it was Vieira that landed with more accuracy and did a higher level of damage. Vieira heated up late in the fight, engaging in fire-fights with Tate on the feet.
Vieira was successful with her right hand during the fight, connecting often with crosses, hooks and uppercuts using the hand.
Damage started to show on the face of Tate in the fourth and fifth rounds, as she started to bleed heavily and show swelling on her face.
The fight on Saturday was Vieira’s first UFC main event bout. She was coming off a loss against Yana Kunitskaya from earlier in the year.
Tate, a former UFC Bantamweight Champion, came out of retirement in the summer. Competing for the first time in nearly five years, Tate defeated Marion Reneau with a third-round stoppage outcome in July.
Tates fight on Saturday night was billed as part of her quest towards another reign as 135-pound champion.
Adrian Yanez vs. Davey Grant Earns ‘Fight of the Night,’ Taila Santos Takes Home Performance Bonus
UFC were less generous than usual with performance bonuses on Saturday night, only giving away three awards following a scorecard-heavy “Fight Night” card from Las Vegas.
Adrian Yanez’s win over Davey Grant earned both competitors a “Fight of the Night” award, and a submission victory for Taila Santos made her the sole “Performance of the Night” winner for Saturday.
All award winners were given an extra $50,000 on top of their previously negotiated fight purses.
Yanez prevailed over Grant in a tough three-round striking battle to open the main card. The fight was Yanez’s fourth UFC win and first time going the distance since joining the promotion last year.
Santos scored the first finish win of her UFC career on the main card, hurting Joanne Wood with strikes before securing a rear naked choke submission late in the first round.

RENA Finishes Miyuu Yamamoto With Second-Round Knee, Ends Close Rematch At RIZIN 32
RENA scored a sudden stoppage win against Miyuu Yamamoto in the main event of Saturday’s card, scoring a second round stoppage win with a hard knee.
The fight headlined RIZIN 32, which took place at the Okinawa Arena in Okinawa, Japan on Saturday.
RENA caught Yamamoto in the second round with a perfectly timed knee to the head, connecting with the shot as a counter to a takedown attempt. RENA then landed punches to a shelled-up Yamamoto on the ground until the referee stopped the fight.
The finish victory for RENA came after a close battle earlier in the fight.
RENA landed the better shots early on the feet. Yamamoto got the fight to the ground in the fourth minute of the opening round, although she had to fend off submissions later on.
RENA attempted an armbar in the final seconds of the round, taking a side control position at one moment while searching for the submission.
Yamamoto earned another takedown quite early into the second round. She was also more active from full guard this time, landing hammerfist punches to RENA. The damage from these blows became visible on RENA, including a cut above her right eye.
Saturday’s main event was a rematch from five years ago. They first met in 2016, where RENA secured a first-round ninja choke submission in the fifth minute. The meeting many years ago was Yamamoto’s MMA debut and only RENA’s second pro fight.
The fight on Saturday was RENA’s return after over a year outside of competition. She is now on a four-fight winning streak.
Yamamoto’s previous fight was in late 2020, where she lost a title fight against Ayaka Hamasaki.
