Patricky Pitbull Avenges Loss Against Peter Queally, Claims Bellator Lightweight Championship
Patricky Pitbull’s explosive striking took him to another stoppage win Friday, putting away Peter Queally in the second round to become the new Bellator Lightweight Champion.
Pitbull’s win headlined Bellator 270, which took place at the 3Arena Dublin in Dublin, Ireland.
Pitbull stopped Queally in the second round after a close opening frame.
He first hurt Queally with a right cross, knocking him down with the shot. Queally got dropped again moments later by another right cross that Pitbull had thrown while charging forward.
Follow-up shots on the ground by Pitbull caused the fight to end, crowning him the new champ.
Friday’s main event wasn’t originally booked to be for the lightweight title but was elevated to that status after Patricky’s brother, Patricio, vacated his belt in October.
The fight avenged a recent loss for Pitbull.
The 35-year-old MMA vet lost in his return in May, as a bout against Queally was stopped by a doctor in the second round. The result came due to an elbow that Queally had landed while in a ground position against Pitbull during the fight.
Before their first encounter in May, both fighters had not competed in 2020 or 2021.
Pitbull was returning to Bellator after a three-fight stint in RIZIN, fighting in their eight-man Lightweight Grand Prix in 2019.
Queally’s previous appearance was a stoppage win against Ryan Scope in September 2019.

UFC Vet Michinori Tanaka Wins In Return, Takes Decision Victory Over Ricardo Dias At LFA 117
Former UFC fighter Michinori Tanaka won in his return to the cage on Friday night, using wrestling to control Ricardo Dias for a unanimous decision result.
The fight was the main event for LFA 117, which happened at the Visalia Convention Center in Visalia, California, USA.
Tanaka took Dias down numerous times in the fight and used dominant positions on the ground to land punches periodically.
Dias’ best moment came early, as he dropped Tanaka in the opening round with a right hand. He wasn’t able to follow-up on that shot much, as Tanaka was quick to take him down after and slow his momentum.
Tanaka was competing in the U.S. for the first time since his five-fight UFC run. His two more recent wins, a decision and submission victory in Japan, took place in 2019 and 2017 respectively.
Dias entered the fight having won his previous three bouts. He had a stoppage victory in May, defeating George Garcia at LFA 107.

Welterweights Michel Pereira and Muslim Salikhov Matched For January 15th UFC Card
Rising welterweight Muslim Salikhov will attempt to keep his win streak alive when facing Michel Pereira at UFC’s January 15th event. The fight, which was first reported to be in the works by MMA Fighting, was confirmed by Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie on Friday.
Salikhov has gone undefeated in his past five bouts, having built the ongoing streak since 2018. He defeated Francisco Trinaldo in his last appearance, taking the veteran to a unanimous decision result in June.
Pereira is currently on a strong three-fight winning streak, putting together a consistent string of wins after only winning one of his first three fights in the promotion.
Pereira earned his most recent win in July, going three rounds against Niko Price for a scorecard victory.
Maycee Barber Out of UFC 269 Bout Against Erin Blanchfield
UFC’s December 11th pay-per-view event has temporarily lost a flyweight bout, as Maycee Barber has withdrawn from her booking against Erin Blanchfield. News of the scrapped bout was first broken by Nolan King of MMA Junkie on early Saturday.
It is not known at the moment whether Blanchfield will get a new opponent for the date. UFC is reportedly seeking Miranda Maverick as a replacement, although nothing has been made official at the moment.
Barber was attempting to end her year with another win. She broke a two-fight skid in her last bout, defeating Maverick via split decision in July.
Blanchfield won her UFC debut in September, beating Sarah Alpar on scorecards.

UFC 268: Usman vs. Covington 2
UFC has looked to make Madison Square Garden one of their top locations since the sport of MMA was legalized in the state of New York five years ago.
While the promotion had visited the prestigious sports and concert venue for three consecutive years, the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to skip out in 2020. Now in November 2021, the promotion is returning to Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, USA for UFC 268.
The stacked pay-per-view lineup includes two title fight rematches at the top of it. In the main event, thus-far unstoppable UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman will meet Colby Covington.
